1. Introduction
Thank you for using Kindred ("we," "us," or "our"). We believe your data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application.
The short version: We are a privacy-first application. We do not store your contacts, messages, or personal relationship data on our servers. All personal data you enter into Kindred remains stored locally on your device.
2. Data Collection and Storage
Local-Only Storage
Kindred operates on a "Local-First" basis. This means:
- No Cloud Sync: We do not transmit your personal entries, contact details, or notes to any external server or cloud database that we control.
- Your Device: All data you create or import into the app is stored exclusively on your iOS device's internal memory or your personal iCloud (if you have enabled iOS system-level backups).
- No Access: Since your data never leaves your device, we have no way to access, view, or sell your personal information.
Data You Provide
You may voluntarily input data such as:
- Names and contact information of your friends/family.
- Notes about your interactions.
- Reminders and dates.
This information is processed solely on your device to provide the app's functionality.
3. Subscriptions and Payments (Kindred Pro)
While we do not process personal user data, we do use a third-party service to manage subscriptions for Kindred Pro.
RevenueCat
We use a service called RevenueCat to validate App Store receipts and manage subscription status.
- What is shared: When you purchase a subscription, we send an anonymized App User ID and the Apple App Store receipt to RevenueCat. This allows us to verify that your purchase was successful and unlock Pro features.
- What is NOT shared: We do not send your personal relationship data, notes, or contacts to RevenueCat.

Apple App Store
All financial transactions are handled directly by Apple. We do not process, store, or have access to your credit card information or billing address.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data is stored locally on your device:
- Retention: We do not define a retention period because we do not hold your data. Your data remains on your device for as long as you keep the app installed.
- Deletion: You have full control. If you wish to delete your data, simply delete the Kindred app from your device. This will permanently remove all data associated with the app from your phone.
5. Third-Party Links
Kindred does not contain links to third-party websites or services.
6. Children’s Privacy
Kindred does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect data from any users, this applies to children as well.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app (e.g., via a release note update) or by updating the date at the top of this policy.
